MADE FOR THE TRADES

Our Story

Knife & Flag was built by someone who’s lived the work.

being raised in Buffalo NY, i picked up a welder at 15 and never really put it down. Growing up around old Harleys taught me early that nothing worthwhile is handed to you — it’s built, fixed, tuned, and sometimes rebuilt again. Welding led to painting, engine assembly, machining, and eventually full-scale metal fabrication. Each skill stacked on the last, all rooted in working with my hands.

Later, I moved to San Diego and managed a makerspace — a place where woodworkers, machinists, metalworkers, laser engravers, and artists shared tools, space, and ideas. Despite wildly different crafts, I noticed something powerful: everyone was connected by the same instinct to create something from nothing. Different trades. Same mindset.

That’s when it clicked.

United by Craft

When the opportunity came to take over Knife & Flag, I jumped on it. I’d worn aprons across multiple trades, and no matter the craft, the apron was always there — protecting you, holding your tools, moving with you while you worked.

An apron isn’t just workwear. It’s a common thread.

That’s why we stand behind the mantra “United By Craft.”
It’s not about one trade or one title. It’s about the shared respect for skill, effort, and making something real with your hands.

Our aprons are built for barbers, tattooers, welders, chefs, woodworkers, machinists — anyone who takes pride in their craft and demands gear that works as hard as they do.

Our Mission

Knife & Flag exists to support the people who build, fix, cut, shape, and create.

We design durable, functional aprons that honor the trades — not as trends, but as lifelong pursuits. Every stitch, pocket, and material choice is made with real work in mind.

But our mission goes further.

We believe the future depends on keeping trades alive and accessible. That’s why giving back is a core part of who we are. We aim to support charities and programs that help kids learn trades of all kinds — from barbering to machining, woodworking to metalwork.

Because creating isn’t just a skill — it’s a path.
